Live experience from the press:

Aaron Frank, Motorcyclist, US - April 2011
The K3 gripped like gorilla glue on a 170-hp Suzuki GSX-R1000, and the aggressive front profile turned the slow-steering GSX into an apex predator. If the Sportec M5 was overstressed on a hot racetrack under a mega-powerful liter bike, it was at home on Triumph’s Speed Triple during the afternoon street ride, delivering easy, neutral steering and enough traction to wheelie out of tight corners. But the new Roadtec Z8 was the biggest surprise. We noted little difference in street performance compared to the M5, with quick turning, exceptional rough-road stability and plenty of rear grip—at least on a mid-powered Yamaha FZ8. If the Z8 indeed wears longer than the M5, this could be the sport tire value of the year.

Jean-François Robert, Moto Journal / Les Repaire Des Motards, FR – March 2011
Indeed our three friends cover a wide spectrum of use, which is enough to fill the full range of possibilities for road bikes or sports. What we remember from this interactive technology, it is excellent front tires inspire tremendous confidence. The perfect agreement of the profiles front and rear provides a very natural curve behavior that places them above suspicion. The transitional phases of the development curve never generate concern. Finally, the rear tires’ super effectiveness endures stress without breaking down. And when they finally show their limits, they only do so with great care. Definitely a good team that will satisfy everyone completely whatever his bike and use tourism, sport or track for fun.
In terms of performance and longevity, an M5 will know about 50% of a kilometer and a K3 that the Z8 will it even 50% more than an M5: pure performance has a cost.

Andy Carlile, Motorcycle Action Group,UK April 2011
Sportec M5’s fit a very wide bill. Metzeler’s product gives the rider excellent feedback, stability, and grip. They should last well, they may dispel any confidence issues some riders hold, especially wet confidence, so would be well worth a look if this is you. Even in heady heights of a fast track day group they hang on just fine.
Roadtec Z8’s get the silver medal. They’re the choice of someone prepared to trade outright grip for more life.
