Tread design

The tread has the same design as Racetec K0, K1, K2, DOT racing tyres. The performance-oriented development of land/sea ratio distribution respects FIM Supersport regulations, and most of grooves are concentrated on mid-lean area, leaving shoulders slick-like.

Pattern design has been developed to enhance up to excellence:
  • dry grip
  • consistency of performance
  • wear regularity through maximized tread compactness
  • line holding
  • stability.
The result is therefore a performance of the tyre nearly like a slick, maximizing the rubber on the ground.

Structure

The application of CMT (Contour Modeling Technology), tested in competitions, guarantees fast corner entry and stable and precise trajectory for a progressive cornering behavior.
On the rear, the differentiated radii distribution and a flatter shape at lean zone gives maximum cornering support and higher stability when accelerating out of corners.
The structure of Racetec K3 is strictly derived from the Racing Supersport version, with optimizations aimed to improve the road performance, with particular focus on the stability on straight line.
Metzeler has deployed the most innovative technologies to Racetec:
  • Intelligent Tensioning Technology (differentiated tensioning of carcass and belt across x-section) to widen the contact area at lean
  • Patented 0° Steel Belt construction that grants a higher dimensional stability in every condition of use.

Compound

Hi-performance chemicals, combined with an enhanced Curing system give the tyre:
  • high performance stability, both on road and on racetrack
  • fast warm-up
  • regular wear, even at high temperatures coming form prolonged use or severe racetrack conditions.
