12/01/2009 - All on the starting grid: the 2009 Metzeler season begins shortly...

Following a season of great success and satisfaction, Metzeler is preparing to begin the new year with a series of news and events celebrate motorcycling.

Just a short summary of 2008!

Events

2008 was a year full of action-packed appointments for motorbike enthusiasts.  It began with the unique story of Experts on the Road 2008. A journey in its 2nd edition which began in Turin, Italy and ended in Munich in Bavarian Germany, the city Metzeler's birth. Curves, mountain passes, road bikes equipped with the latest Roadtec Z6 Interact and, above all, so much passion.

The history of motorcycling and the brand must be celebrated, and it's called Metzeler's Heroes. A grand celebration to remember with honor, eighty years ago, the victory of Ernst Henne on the mythical "Targa Florio", who accomplished this feat with Metzeler's best. The celebration was a 600km long journey in which riders tackled varying terrain: from the historical circuit to the slopes of Mount Etna, from off-road to the motorway. All of this distance was covered using motorcycles and tires for each and every occasion. We talk about Sportec M3, Roadtec Z6 Interact™, Racetec K3, Tourance EXP, Feelfree WINTEC, 6-Days Extreme and ME 880 Marathon.

Metzeler's strength lies in its endurance, through time and with the longevity of its product.  The Endurance Tyre Test in Pergusa, Sicily was an opportunity for 15 pilots to make eight hours of tests on an incredibly fast track in sweltering temperatures typical of Sicily.  Two players participated in this test: Racetec K3 and Sportec M3: proof beyond limits confirming the high level of performance of these two Metzeler products.

Metzeler has always been a leader in the field of innovation, and from this strong characteristic of the German brand, the company chose innovate with its communication strategy by producing a place where motorcyclists could meet, discuss, confront and, most importantly, share their passions.  Called RIDEXPERIENCE, it is a blog created Metzeler now available in Italy and Germany, but this successful project will spread to additional countries in 2009 as well as many other projects related to the blog.

The World Enduro Championship

Metzeler's great success in the World Enduro Championship is elemental for an all-around feel.
Thomas Oldrati won the crown of Champion of the Junior Class riding his KTM fitted with 6-Days Extreme rubber.  Metzeler riders captured 1st and 2nd place for the E1 class with Mika Ahola and Ivan Cervantes, as well as 2nd and 3rd place for the E2 class with Juha Salminen and Alessandro Belometti.  Even more so, Metzeler riders took 1st and 2nd place in the E3 class with Samuli Aro and Marko Tarkkala.
An incredible season confirming Metzeler is the Prince of Enduro.

Lastly but not least - newly born from the house of Metzeler: The new Racetec

A preview was presented at the INTERMOT in Cologne, Germany and at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy of this newest innovation: Racetec with Interact™ finds a suitable home in the Metzeler range.
The evolution of the Racetec, available in the four compounds: K0, K1, K2 and K3 road.  Included is of course Metzeler's patented Interact™ technology, in which the 0° steel belt is progressively tightened to ensure an even distribution of pressure maximizing performance at every lean angle. The secret lies in the interaction between the belt and the carcass, optimizing the resistance to stress throughout the profile: making it - Easier To Go Faster.
